Belle was literally abandoned at Belle Ferme. Her owners arrived with her and kept her with us for several months. Her rider, a young girl, came and rode her and had lessons with her. It was never very clear where the pony really came from or what her name really was. It took some research to find out. The owners then said they had to move to La Réunion and would fetch the pony at the end of the month. That was the last we ever saw of them! More research has shown that the young girl now rides in the Paris area, so the family visibly had no intention of taking Belle with them!

What's special?
Belle had some lameness issues and was no longer able to earn her keep as a riding school pony. Perhaps after some years of rest, she might be able to come back to gentle work, as she’s still quite young. Fortunately, for now she is under the care of the Saxo Association. What is for sure is that she is too sweet a pony to be abandoned!
